Summer Reading Challenge 2020
We are excited to announce that Summer Reading begins on June 1 and will run through July 31!
We have one summer reading challenge this year for everyone, so things are a little different this year, but as always, it will be a fun and engaging experience for the whole family!
The goal is simple: read every day. You can read anything, from magazines to books to cereal boxes! The library offers a large selection of digital materials on our website, including Overdrive, RBDigital and Hoopla. Exercising those reading muscles through the summer months will help kids stay ready for school in the fall! Reading for at least 20 minutes every day is a great habit to start!
Track your progress online using Beanstack. You can use their website, or download the app for your mobile device. Track multiple family members using one login. You can also print out a paper reading log on our website and staff will be able to help add your reading to Beanstack.
Earn tickets for prize drawings! You’ll earn tickets for both reading and completing activities, which you can use to enter online raffles for gift cards to some of our fantastic local businesses. The more days you read, the more tickets you'll earn!
While our whole summer reading program is new this year, we're especially excited that our readers will earn tickets for completing activities! You’ll find lots of activity challenges that encourage critical thinking, including making music and creating art. You can also earn activity badges for reading something outside your comfort zone or reading the same book as a friend. Each activity challenge offers options for all ages and reading abilities!
Summer Reading Has Begun!
Create your Beanstack account today! You can join our Summer Reading 2020 challenge anytime before July 31. All ages are encouraged to join!
If you would prefer a paper reading log, you can download one to print here! You can make a note if you have read that day on the calendar. You could also keep track of the number of books, pages or minutes that you read in a day if you want!
Summer Reading in a Bag
All kids and teens are invited to visit us starting July 6 to pick up a Summer Reading in a Bag!
Every bag will include a book, activities, and prizes. We will be distributing these bags in our Fell Avenue parking lot to practice safe social distancing for all!
Stay tuned for further details!
