Computers

Our public computers offer Internet access, printing, and scanning. Anyone over the age of 12 with a library card can log on to our desktop computers or laptops on the main floor.

As part of our Grab + Go services, the number of available computers is limited and available by appointment. Desktop computers and laptops will both be available by reservation for one hour per day. Computers will be wiped down and disinfected between users.

Reserve a computer here or by calling 309-452-1757.

Our Internet computers are also equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Access.

Please note that you will not be able to save documents that you create with these programs directly on a library computer’s hard drive.

Computer Use for Kids & Teens

Kids and teens may use our Internet computers with their library card.

  • Kids Cards – for children 0 to 11 years old – will only grant access to the computers in the Children’s Department on the second floor. Internet computers are currently not available on the second floor.
  • Teen Cards – for teens 12 to 17 years old – will only grant access to the computers in the Adult Department on the main floor.

Fax Machine

The library offers a self-serve fax machine. You can use your credit card or purchase a Fax Cash card at the Front Desk.

Rates are $1.75 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page if you are faxing domestically.

If you're faxing internationally, the rates are $3.95 for the first page & $3.45 for each additional page.

Please ask for help at our Front Desk to get started.

iPads

iPads are currently unavailable.

We offer iPads for adults, teens, and children that can be used in the library. iPads are checked out for a 90-minute period and must stay in the library.

Laptops

Patrons age 12 and over with a library card in good standing may check out a laptop to use for up to ninety minutes in the library.

Reserve a laptop here or by calling 309-452-1757.

Patrons ages 12 to 17 must have a parent’s permission in advance.

Printing

Black & white and color printing is available at the library.

You can even print documents from home – or anywhere else – to pick up at the library.

3D Printing

Submit a request.

Please allow two weeks for prints. Thank you for your patience with our free 3D printing service!

For further information, please read our policy.

Wireless Internet

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the library for laptops and other personal devices.

The Wi-Fi network is titled “npl.”  There is no password required and you should be able to connect easily.
