The Teen Summer Reading Program is a great chance to earn prizes and join in on all the summer fun!
Teens who have completed 6th grade through graduated seniors are welcome to participate.
Students who have completed 6th grade are also eligible to participate in the Children’s Department’s Summer Reading Program, so you’ll need to make a choice. Find more information about the Kids Summer Reading Program here. You may only participate in one of the programs.
Sign up at the front desk or online. If you’re signing up at the front desk, you can pick up a paper copy of the Reading Log to keep track of your reading hours, or keep track online by logging on to your Summer Reader homepage.
You can register any time throughout the program. You can even count any reading you’ve done since the program began!
After having read five hours, you are eligible to check in at the front desk to pick up a prize. Prize options include free paperback books, coupons for a free DVD rental from the Normal Public Library, ear buds, candy bars, and coupons for local businesses.
You can check in for a prize up to four times for a total of 20 hours read. If you complete the program, you are automatically entered into our grand prize drawing, to be held after the program ends. Everyone who enters the final drawing will win a prize!
Prize drawing entries are earned at each five-hour increment, up to 50 total, after completing the program.
There are lots of great activities for teens every summer!
Check our calendar for more information on summer activities for teens, or pick up a flyer in the library.
You can also write a book review and turn it in at the library or online for a chance to win a prize in a special drawing. Just share with us the author and title of a book you’ve read this summer, and a few sentences describing the book and what you thought of it. Turn your review in by the deadline for a chance to win a prize!
