Young Readers’ Book Awards

The Basics

Every year, kids all across Illinois vote for the Monarch, Bluestem, and Caudill Award winners.

For each award, there is a list of twenty nominees.  Kids are encouraged to read as many of the books as they can and then pick their favorite.

Kids can vote at their schools, or right here at the library!  The voting takes place in February each year.

The Monarch Award

The Monarch Award is for kids in kindergarten through third grade.

Kids are required to read five of the nominated books in order to vote.
