The purpose of the Friends of the Normal Public Library is:
To maintain an association of persons interested in libraries, to stimulate the use of the library’s resources and services, to support the library’s administrator in developing library services and facilities, to raise funds to help with otherwise funded projects, and to lend legislative support if needed.
Book Sales
The Friends of the Normal Public Library host three book sales each year to raise funs for library programs and services.
All book sales are held at the Normal Public Library.
Learn more about the book sales here.
Joining the Friends
Friends share a passion to work together, have fun, and make a positive difference for the library.
You can print out an application to become a member of the Friends here.
Volunteering for the Friends
The Friend’s biggest responsibility is processing and selling items donated to the library.
This means sorting and storing the books that they can sell, recycling the ones they can’t, and putting on three major book sales every year. It’s a big job!
If you’re interested in helping out, you can contact the Friends at friends@normalpl.org.
Supporting the Library
The Friends provide funding for items and programs that the library could not otherwise afford.
They provide funding each year for the Summer Reading Program’s Book Bonanza and for the Tale for Two Cities program.
They have also purchased the SimpleScan machine, a coffee maker for our patrons, our circulating video game collection, and new library shelving.
These are just a few examples of all that the Friends provide for the Normal Public Library.
